SEMINAR DESCRIPTION

Event in English only

This is not a class, but rather an opportunity to work on your own individual project and receive group feedback. Every week advanced writers will be required to bring in new pages to discuss and analyse, while also reading their fellow writers’ work.

Over six evening sessions the instructor will moderate the collaboration among the participants, provide dramaturgical guidance, and offer tips on overall structure, scene construction and character development. The goal of the workshop is to elevate participants' own material, while improving their skills, learning how to critique, and providing regular writing deadlines. It will not cover the fundamentals of screenwriting.

There will be a maximum of 6 writers in the workshop.
Projects can be screenplays or series for cinema, television, or streaming.
Work can continue on existing projects or new ones can be started.
All writing must be done in English.
New work must be submitted to the group each week by the Sunday before the next session.

As this workshop is for advanced writers, you must submit a 2-3 page writing sample (preferably in English). It can be a scene, a treatment, a story idea, prose, or any other form of creative writing.
The six participants will be selected by the instructor and staff of Filmhaus Frankfurt based on their submitted materials. Preference will be given to residents of Hesse. Consideration will also be given as to whether a funding application is planned. This information should be sent via email to seminare@filmhaus-frankfurt.de along with your registration.
Registered participants will receive confirmation of their participation as soon as possible after submitting their materials, and no later than shortly after April 21.

Those already receiving a screenwriting grant from Hessen Film & Medien cannot apply for additional funding for the workshop through STEP.

This workshop is designed for advanced screenwriters who want a professional evaluation of their ongoing or next writing project in order to bring it to the next level, while learning how to deeply analyse and critique scripts.
