Kulturamt Frankfurt

The Film Department is responsible for project funding of cultural activities in the field of film as well as related forms of analog and digital (audio)visual artistic work.

This includes, in particular, film cultural events such as film festivals and film series. These take place in Frankfurt am Main, extend over a limited period of time, feature a curated program, offer a mediating accompanying program if possible, and are aimed at a broad audience.

The department aims to promote projects of independent film culture initiatives and institutions, to network actors and to support the development of Frankfurt's film landscape with stimulus for film culture events.

The film department provides advice to the regional film scene. Funding for film projects can only be granted in exceptional cases if they are closely related to Frankfurt's cultural or urban history, mostly in documentary form.

Applications can be submitted at any time before the project begins.

Applications should be addressed to the responsible person and sent to kulturfoerderung@stadt-frankfurt.de.
