Since film shoots take place in Frankfurt at several locations almost every day, it is essential to obtain a filming permit before filming begins.

2. Application for filming permit

The informal written application must be written in German and contain the following information::

  1. Type of production
  2. Exact description of the filming locations (street, house no., location), if necessary with a plan, each with a short scene description
  3. Expected number of locations
  4. Number of possible driving shots (with or without trailer - but no excess width!)
  5. Period with time of day information
  6. Invoice recipient information

3. Deadlines

All paperwork must be completed and handed at least 14 days before film shooting begins.

4. Use of drones

Anyone wishing to operate a drone commercially in Frankfurt first needs a general permit from a regional council responsible for Hesse.
The Road Traffic Office is the point of contact for the use and approval of drone flights. General information is provided by this General Information on Drone Flights.
